Brave Online Summer

Andrea Turner-Boys

Hello everyone!

We’re well into the new year now, and I hope everyone is taking strides to create what they want in 2014. For Women with Altitude, we are having an intense start to the year transforming our network to be better than ever. It’s exciting, daunting and overwhelming all at once, but I have a fierce determination. I am so looking forward to sharing with you all soon.

In terms of brave, this will be the last one in its current format. We have had so much feedback that we have taken on board. We will be making some changes that will give you more of what you have requested, it’s all very exciting to stay tuned.

We caught up this month with some courageous women who lost so much in the fires that decimated some of our region in October. We wanted to check in with how they are going and focus on the positive outcomes and beginnings they are experiencing. We thank them for sharing and being so generous. We appreciate it enormously.

We are also embarking on a lot of collaborations with other networks in our region this year. In May, we have joint event with the Penrith Performing Arts Association to be held at the Joan. The magnificent play based on the hit movie, The Calendar Girls, is coming to Penrith and Women with Altitude are holding an event including; cocktails, light supper and a performance of the play. We will be raising money for the Butterfly Foundation, an organisation that helps people with eating disorders and negative body image. Mums and daughters this one is for you!

True to the Brave name, members of Women with Altitude put their fears aside and posed topless for the promotion of this event. We were nervous to start with but had so much fun. Thank you Kristen Flavell & Sally Haythornwaite for making us feel great, and a huge thanks to the women who jumped in…
